“Fibark, or First in Boating on the Arkansas, is the largest event here in Chaffee County, and one of the largest white water festivals in the country, exclaims Marketing Director and Chaffee County native Sheila Bustamante, “We are proud to help sponsor this fantastic event and show off what our wonderful corner of the world has to offer.”

“We are especially excited to be pouring our Grapefruit Crank Yanker again this year,’ say’s Bustamante. ‘It is a wonderful 7.2% ABV IPA brewed with Grapefruit and Mango for a wonderful citrus kick.  We just released it statewide this month, and is the perfect beer to enjoy during this year’s Fibark.”

Eddyline will be featuring food pairings all summer long at their two Buena Vista locations at South Main, and at the Taproom off of Highway 24.

Pairings such as their new Buffalo Peaks Chicken  Sandwich topped  with blue cheese, pickled onions, and  mustard micro-greens alongside their Grapefruit Crank  Yanker make for one of the best dinning experiences in the  valley.

“We are proud to show off what local beer and food can do,  and can’t wait to see everyone up for the 69th annual Fibark  this year. It should be a weekend full of great food, great beer, and as always awesome whitewater!” Says Bustamante.

Eddyline Brewery Releases Seasonal 14’er Imperial Java Stout: A Collaboration with the the Buena Vista Roastery

Buena Vista, Colorado – November 16, 2016 –  Eddyline Brewery collaborates with the Buena Vista Roastery for the seasonal release of the 14’er Imperial Java Stout available in 16 ounce 4 packs at liquor stores throughout Colorado. The Arkansas River Valley is home to 14,000’ peaks and this beer fits the bill. A rich Imperial Java Stout with 60 pounds of 100% organic Papua New Guinea coffee beans and loads of roasted chocolate malts makes this the perfect winter craft beer.

“The coffee and roasted barley are perfectly balanced in our 14’er Imperial Java Stout. As opposed to last season, coffee was the boldest flavor. I enjoy the slight sweetness this year to complement the bitterness of the coffee beans,” explained Brewer, Alex Topper.

The Buena Vista Roastery works at high elevation which allows them to keep temperatures lower than at sea level. This helps to develop natural sugars in the coffee beans. Eddyline worked closely with the Buena Vista Roastery to select a coffee bean with a low acidic profile. Papua New Guinea 100% organic specialty grade coffee bean was the perfect balance to magnify the sweetness from the chocolate notes. Collaborating with local businesses and the use of organic ingredients is significant to the Eddyline business model.

“The Buena Vista Roastery is proud to be in collaboration with Eddyline in their production of their seasonal 14er Java Stout. The coffee used – Papua New Guinea – was selected for its low acid profile, notes of chocolate and spice and a moderate degree of sweetness on the finish. Eddyline performs the real magic by merging their ingredients with ours, creating what has become our go-to cold season beer,” stated Operations Manager, Ed Barkowski.

Eddyline Brewery Expansion by Company Week

With the completion of $3 million expansion, variety is on the menu for this Chaffee County brewery.

At Eddyline Brewing, growth has been consistent and constant since launch. Founded by owners Mic and Molley Heynekamp as a brewpub, it reached its original 400-barrel capacity within a year. Though a production facility added in 2011 provided some breathing room, it too was maxed out less than three years later.

“We produced 2,700 barrels in 2014,” recounts Brian England, who, as CEO, oversees all taproom and brewery operations, and owns Eddyline Restaurant at South Main. “It was as much as we could possibly do in that facility and it prompted us to pull the trigger on a $3 million expansion.” Completed in summer 2015, the project included an 8,000-square foot building with a new cold room and docks, an upgrade to a custom-built 30-barrel, four-vessel Newlands brewing system, multiple 90-barrel fermentation tanks, and a CFT Packaging USA canning system out of Italy.

ABV 8.4% IBU 30

The Arkansas River Valley is home to 14,000’ peaks in Colorado and this beer fits the bill. With local coffee from The BV Roastery, and lots of roasted and chocolate malts, make this a rich, malty java stout.

International Stout Day – November 5

International Stout Day is a worldwide celebration of the iconic beer style, Stout. Taking place in homes, pubs, breweries and restaurants; it’s all about celebrating the craft beer revolution, relishing in this beloved beer style, sharing your photos, tasting notes and events with the world.

Originally, stout meant “proud” or “brave”, but morphed into the connotation of “strong” after the 14th century. Why on earth should this brave and strong beer style not have its own day of celebration?

The word “stout”, after the fourteenth century, had taken on as one of its meanings “strong”, and was used as such to describe strong beers, such as the Porter. “Stout” as in stout porter, was the strong, dark brew London’s brewers developed and the dark beer that gave us what we think of today as the typical stout style.

The first stouts were produced in the 1730s. The Russian Imperial Stout was inspired by brewers back in the 1800’s to win over the Russian Czar. “Imperial porter” came before “imperial stout” and the earliest noted use of “Imperial” to describe a beer comes from the Caledonian Mercury of February 1821, when a coffeehouse in Edinburgh was advertising “Edinburgh Ales, London Double Brown Stout and Imperial Porter, well worth the attention of Families”.

Triple Chocolate 14’er Java Stout Beer Brownies Recipe

Ingredients
12 ozs stout (Eddyline 14’er Java Stout)
1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
2 cups sugar
12 cup melted butter
2 tsps vanilla extract
4 eggs
2 cups all-purpose flour
34 tsp salt
12 cup white chocolate (chopped)
12 cup semisweet chocolate (chopped)
Directions:
1. Preheat oven to 350°F Line a 13x9x2 baking pan with aluminum foil, letting foil extend 2 inches beyond each short side of pan.
2. In large bowl, whisk together stout and cocoa powder until blended and smooth. Whisk in sugar, butter, vanilla extract and eggs, one at a time. Blend well.
3. Add flour and salt; whisk until batter is smooth. Stir in chocolate chips. Spread mixture in prepared pan, leveling surface with a spatula. Bake 42 to 45 minutes in preheated oven, until top is shiny and dry, and a wooden pick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs attached. Remove from oven and let cool completely in pan on rack.
4. Lift out brownie from pan by foil ends; transter to cutting board. Cut lengthwise into four strips and crosswise into 8 pieces, making 32 brownies.

Keep Colorado LocALE – Coming Soon

To show our support for the Keep Colorado Local coalition, we are working on a fresh Colorado LocALE as we speak! Out of state corporations are interested in changing the way we do business in Colorado by allowing all chain grocers and convenient stores to sell alcohol and boost profits. Meanwhile, the effort will send money out of our communities, force hundreds of small businesses to close and curtail Colorado’s thriving craft industries.
